Enrico Braga (1841–1919).
The tondo-form plaque depicts two young children (often referred to as cherubs or putti) embracing.
The original design is known as 'Children at Play' by sculptor E. W. Wyon, which was based on Sir Thomas Lawrence's painting The Calmady Children.
These plaques were popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, often made from molded or reconstituted marble to mimic carved marble.
The piece is mounted in an ornate, square, giltwood and gesso frame.
