'I Told Bessie' is the third solo album by Chaz Hall, aka ELUCID, a rapper/producer from New York. The title is a reference to his paternal grandmother, Bessie Hall, who was a powerful presence in his life until her passing in 2017. From running around her apartment in the Red Hook Projects as a child to living under the same roof in Crown Heights during his adolescence, Bessie was the central figure in Hall's family.

ELUCID is best known as one half of the highly acclaimed duo Armand Hammer, but he has also built an impressive resume over the past decade with other collaborations and side projects.

'I Told Bessie' features guest appearances by Pink Siifu, Quelle Chris, and billy woods.

The album is produced by Child Actor, The Alchemist, P.U.D.G.E., Seb Bash, The Lasso, Kenny Segal, August Fanon, and Messiah Musik. This impressive lineup of producers creates the album's hard and funky sound.
