Thread (ANIAPPT story)
The sweater had a loose thread in it. June tugged at it, experimentally, and it gave a little, forming a tight little pucker in the garment.
Do you really want to pull that thread? June's mind asked her. Her mind was always asking her questions like that: Do you really want to do this or eat that or go in there or live under this? It was like her mind had a mind of its own.
She resented the implication of these questions. They implied that she knew better than to do or not do or go or stay or live or die or everything else that could be or would not be. But she obviously didn't know better, because she always wanted to do, etc etc. She would have thought that her mind would KNOW she didn't know any better since, as her mind, it had access to everything she knew, or, as was more pertinent here, it knew everything she did not know.
In fact, her mind probably knew a lot more about her than June herself knew, she guessed, which made her all the more annoyed.
