Rare Original 1940 SS Breda Shipwreck Ten Rupees Reserve Bank Of India Currency Note.

This note was salvaged from the bottom of the ocean…

Back on December 23rd, 1940 German bombers attacked the SS Breda, a large ship on its way to India to aid in the building of an air strip. The mammoth ship couldn't stay afloat and sank to the darkness of the bottom of the ocean, bringing its vast cargo with it. Decades later, that cargo was carefully salvaged. Explorers of this wreckage found in a hidden cargo hold the remains of paper used for the printing of banknotes, printed for the Reserve Bank of India. The old boxes had been eaten away and the edges of the currency were a little ragged, but this treasure was still intact. These ragged and soaked banknotes, nearly lost to the depths of the ocean, were intended for circulation in India in the 1940's and inscribed with: "Ten Rupees Reserve Bank Of India" with the bust of King George VI.
