Vintage Boudoir Doll / Slightly Haunted

I found her in my aunt’s crawl space in the mid-90s.

She was stuffed into a cardboard box with old books and a Ouija board

At the time, I loved horror movies. Haunted houses. Possessed objects. I thought finding her was the coolest thing. I brought her home and set her on my shelf with my Ouija board collection and other oddities.

The following night- doors would slam shut. Sometimes, out of nowhere, the house would fill with the smell of burning hair. We checked the stove, the outlets, even the attic. Nothing was ever wrong.

This happened periodically for years-

Years have passed. I went to college, got married, started a family. My creepy collection—dolls, books, Ouija boards—was boxed up and forgotten.

On Christmas my mom dropped off a bin of my old things.

And here she is- and the noises and smells are back.

I don’t collect creepy things anymore. I don’t watch horror movies late at night. And I don’t open crawl spaces.
